Shortly before 2:30am, a car stalled in the middle lane in the middle of the intersection of Knott Avenue and N. Orangethorpe Avenue. As the driver and passenger got out and started pushing the car out of the intersection, they were hit by a truck, which killed one of them and injured the other. The truck driver properly stopped and communicated with authorities.

One person is dead after a crash on the Northbound 405 freeway in Gardena early Sunday morning. A woman in her early 20's, later identified as Stephanie Hernandez Valerio, 21, and a man were pushing their disabled car on the NB 405 just north of the Harbor (110) Freeway when the woman was struck by a car that came up behind them, the California Highway Patrol Officer said. Paramedics arrived on scene and declared the woman dead. It was not immediately known if alcohol played a role in the incident but speed was a factor, officials said.

Authorities said the man whose truck was hit by a train Thursday night is facing a DUI charge. The light rail Sprinter was carrying 37 passengers when it struck an empty truck near Vista. The driver of the truck said it stalled on the tracks and he apparently tried to warn the oncoming Sprinter train by waving it down. However, the train struck and heavily damaged the truck. None of the people on the train or the vehicle driver were hurt.

The driver in a late-night big rig crash is in serious condition after his truck overturned on the westbound 60 Freeway in the City of Industry after the driver swerved to avoid a disabled vehicle. The crash occurred around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday night, according to CHP. Firefighter-rescue crews extricated the trapped driver from the cab after about two hours. According to CHP, the driver of the big rig was in the far right, slow lane of the freeway when a vehicle on the right shoulder tried entering the lane in front of the big rig.
