Vinicio Mendoza and one other man left a night club in a Ford Mustang at high speed. Witnesses say they were traveling close to 80 mph at one point, in an urban area. The Mustang rear-ended a Honda Civic near 133th East Avenue. Fortunately no one in the Honda was seriously hurt. Mendoza was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and having no driver's license or insurance. The passenger was not arrested. Police are investigating this accident.

Cary Neal Rogers, a UPS semi-truck driver, was outside of his truck that was parked on the shoulder of the turnpike when a second semi driven by Scott Randall Sims was driving eastbound on the turnpike when for an unknown reason, it veered off the roadway and rear-ended the UPS semi.  Both Rogers and Sims were pronounced dead at the scene. Sims was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck and was ejected from his vehicle.

Smith, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene. Garcia was transported to Oklahoma City Hospital.

Thompson and Anderson were both killed in the crash, while Browning was taken to a nearby hospital, followed by the Oklahoma County Jail.
