West Valley City police have identified a "person of interest" in a hit-and-run accident that left a skateboarder in critical condition. Law enforcement officers want to talk with Joseph Crecencio Granados, 32, in connection with the Tuesday night crash that left a 21-year-old man in a coma on Wednesday. The victim was hit by a 1997 Acura RL as he rode his skateboard north near 4000 West and 4215 South about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Steve Jed Canfield, 57, of St. George, was pronounced dead on the scene after a hit-and-run accident Tuesday evening. The accident occured on Old Highway 91 near the Kayenta community of Ivins around 8 p.m. A passerby hit the bicycle in the road and stopped to locate the bicyclist. The passerby found Canfield on the side of the road and called 911. There were no witnesses to the accident and no leads, but the alleged driver of the vehicle, Gary Fairse, 33, contacted police late Tuesday evening.

A motorcyclist was driving northbound on Washington Boulevard when a white hatchback cut him off. The motorcycle driver tried to avoid the vehicle, but hit the back of it and flipped off his motorcycle. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and was seriously injured with broken bones and abrasions. The victim treated at a local area hospital and was released Friday. The hatchback was located by Harrisville police.
