At about 10:30pm, Barker was driving the wrong way in the westbound lane of I-182 when he struck two other oncoming cars, one of which contained Miriam Garcia, 30, and the other which contained Sanchez, Martha Zambrano, 49, an 11-year-old and a 12-year-old. Sanchez was critically injured in the collision and died after being taken to the hospital, but no one else was seriously hurt. Police have found and recovered the body of a young woman who was in a car that crashed into Lake Waco on New Year's Eve. Brittany Stevenson, 24, was initially thought to have exited the submerged vehicle after divers spent hours searching, but found no trace of her. However, Waco Police Sgt. Patrick Swanton released a statement that divers had recovered Stevenson's body. Stevenson was in a Kia Forte that smashed through a guardrail and over a dirt barrier into Lake Waco around 11 p.m. Wednesday. A second woman in the car was able to exit the car and swim to safety.
A police helicopter reportedly crashed on a residential street in Las Vegas, injuring two officers that were riding inside. The officers were taken to a local medical center with non-life threatening injuries. No one else was injured in the crash. Investigators are not sure what caused the accident. This incident is still under investigation.
A 26-year-old woman died in a crash on Interstate 90 just before 7 a.m. Wednesday when she fell asleep while driving and her vehicle rolled over. Giselle Naughton, of Seattle, was traveling east about 24 miles west of Ritzville with her boyfriend and three-year-old daughter when she exited the roadway after falling asleep. She was pronounced deceased at the site.

Sometime in the morning, a car traveling at a slow speed near North 143rd Street and Evanston Avenue North somehow crashed and landed on it's side, trapping the woman who was driving it inside. Firefighters rescued the woman by removing the roof of her car, and she was safely removed and had only minor injuries.
