One person killed when a car smashed into a concrete pillar in Northeast Portland just before 3 a.m. Sunday. The single car crash occurred on Northeast Columbia Boulevard at 33rd Avenue. The passenger was thrown from the vehicle and died at crash site. The driver was taken to a hospital where they are expected to recover. The reason for the car striking the large concrete pillar under the 33rd Avenue overpass is unclear. Names of the victims involved have not been released.

14 year old Fisher Schroeder was sitting in the center seat of a 2000 Ford Excursion driven by Todd Schroeder when it lost control and rolled over into the center median, ejecting Fisher from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead on site. The driver and two juvenile passengers sustained minor injuries while passenger Jerry Schroeder was transported to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland for treatment to more serious injuries. The story will be updated as more information becomes available.

It was just after 10:00am when Childress was driving on westbound Highway 99, and crossed over the center line where he hit a dump truck driven by Raul Gutierrez-Torres, 43, he then exited the roadway to the right and his car came to rest upside-down in a ditch. Childress was not wearing a seat belt and ended up partially ejected from the vehicle; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Christine Schneible, 32, a passenger in Childress' car, sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. Gutierrez-Torres was uninjured.
