Authorities said the crash occured around 7 p.m. on Arial Street in Pickens County. The moped was driving east when it ran off the road and struck the curb. The driver, identified as Gregory Alan Duncan, 47, was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene. Check for updates on this story as they emerge.

Chase Lewis Mills, 28, was killed and his female passenger minorly injured Tuesday night in an accident the Spartanburg County. The moped struck a van while turning from State 11 onto Ragan Street just before 7 p.m. Mills was killed, and his passenger was ejected and taken to Spartanburg Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. No one in the van was injured. Misting rain and fog may have been a factor. Neither person on the moped was wearing a helmet.

A 36-year-old man was riding a moped on Olinda Road in Makawao when he was struck by a pickup truck and sustained life-threatening injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The pickup driver was not injured. On December 18, 2014, the victim, identified as Alika Kapuaala, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

A Tuesday morning crash on Hickory Tree Road in Sullivan County has killed David Osborne, 29, of Bluff City, who was riding a scooter and was hit by a passing motorist. The collision happened at the intersection with Offield Hollow Road. Osborne was driving an unregistered scooter and was not wearing a helmet. A 2001 Nissan was traveling in the same direction, driven by a 58-year-old Bluff City man. The Nissan hit the scooter from behind, throwing Osborne from the vehicle. Osborne was killed in the collision.

Law enforcement officers are looking for a Nissan Pathfinder involved in a fatal Jacksonville hit-and-run early Monday that killed a scooter rider. Michael Lee Moon, 37, of Jacksonville was riding on Normandy Boulevard east of Stratton Road about 12:35 a.m. when he was hit from behind by a Nissan.

Around 4:07 a.m., a crash was reported at the 900 block of Lower Huntington Road. Officers arrived to find the accident involved a single moped. The driver was unconscious and unresponsive. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. It appears the moped was traveling westbound on Lower Huntington Road when it left the road and hit the curb on the north side of the road. After hitting the curb, the driver lost control and struck a mailbox.

The scooter driver was rushed to a local hospital but did not survive. He was not wearing a helmet. The truck driver was not injured. No citations have been issued, and the crash remains under investigation.

Jessica Hartsfield was hit head-on by a truck at around 8:30 p.m. while trying to turn left from Middle Road onto Allison Lane. Officers are interviewing witnesses to determine who had the right-of-way at the traffic light. Hartsfield was rushed to University of Louisville Hospital where she died. No one in the truck was injured. It is not believed that Hartsifled was weaing a helmet.

Two people were hospitalized following an accident at Koval Lane near Harmon Avenue Monday morning. The accident happened shortly after 2 a.m. Police say the victims, 27-year-old Chris Leichtweiss, who was driving, and 19-year-old Tiffany Nelson, who was a passenger, were riding their moped southbound on Koval, when a vehicle rear-ended them. The impact sent the moped forward approximately 300 to 500 feet and caused Leichtweiss and Nelson to become separated from the bike.
