A semi-truck carrying 25,000 pounds of ice cream was traveling east on U.S. 89 when the driver lost control on a curve and the truck crashed into the Logan River. Some of the ice cream was lost in the river, and crews formed a line to hand cases of ice cream off the truck and back onto the road. No injuries were reported.

Vasquez was driving a loader near Riverview Ranch’s dairy waste pond, and accidentally let the wheels slip over the edge, causing the loader to fall into the pond onto its side. The vehicle was submerged in the dairy wastewater, and Vasquez, who was trapped in the closed cab of it, drowned in the pond.

A man was killed when his vehicle drove intoLake Michigan Friday near Monroe Harbor downtown at about 3 p.m. Randy Brittman, 51, was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and was later pronounced dead at 8:23 p.m. Witnesses told officials the SUV went in reverse through a fence, down an embankment and into the lake. Chicago Fire Department divers found the man inside the SUV in 15 feet of water about 50 feet away from shore. Brittman was unconscious and was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition. No one else was hurt in the crash.

The Florida City Police officer, identified so far only as "Officer Castilla," is being called a hero after saving an elderly man who was trapped in a minivan sinking in a pond. Ernesto Sherwood was reunited with his family and his car was removed from the pond with the help of Miami-Dade Police.

A mother behind the wheel of a minivan that was driven with her three children into the surf off Daytona Beach, Fla., is undergoing a mental evaluation. The Volusia County Sheriff's Office also said Wednesday that the children were turned over to the care of the Florida Department of Children and Families. Bystanders and officers helped pull the woman, later identified as Ebony Wilkerson, and her children - ages 3, 9 and 10 - from their minivan after it became nearly submerged in the Atlantic surf Tuesday afternoon.
