Steven and Nancy Mudge were riding a motorcycle on County Road 45 at about 7 p.m. when they struck a horse being ridden by Edward Pinkard. The crash threw both people off of the motorcycle. Steven and Nancy Mudge were transported to Christus St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, where Steven died later that night. Pinkard was treated for his injuries at the scene.

At about 8:50pm, Martinez was driving a Lincoln Town Car west on Carob Street when investigators believe he crossed the double-yellow line into oncoming traffic and struck a pickup truck head-on. The collision left Martinez dead at the scene, and sent the family in the pickup truck, which included a man, woman, and infant, to the hospital via helicopter. A dog that was in Martinez's car was thrown from the vehicle and seriously injured. It has been helped by Hesperia Animal Control.

At about 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, Carol Homaberger, 70, was driving west in a 2000 Dodge Caravan on Route 302 (Roosevelt Trail) near Watkins Flats when she collided head-on with an eastbound vehicle driven by Allen Estes of Standish. Dale Homaberger, 81, was seriously injured and taken to Bridgton Memorial Hospital. The Homaberger's golden retriever was in their vehicle and suffered broken legs and was taken by animal control for emergency treatment. Estes suffered broken bones and other injuries.
