At about 9:25 p.m., two vehicles collided on I-15. The driver of one of the vehicles, identified as Don Smith, exited his vehicle and attempted to cross the freeway to reach the other driver, but was hit by a vehicle. He was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.

 

Victor Muller, 27, killed while attempting to cross I-15 with gas for his vehicle that ran out in Salt Lake City, UT

After Muller's car ran out of gas, he went to a nearby service station to obtain some. As he was trying to cross I-15 with the gas, a car travelling at around 65 mph hit him. Muller was pronounced dead at the scene, but the driver of the car was uninjured.

A 19-year-old man was fatally struck by a car when he inexplicably walked onto southbound Interstate 15 early Tuesday morning.

A Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. spokesman said 2:42 a.m. accident occurred at 13400 South in Draper.

"[The victim] was wearing dark clothing and not seen by the driver of a 2008 Ford Focus when he stepped onto into the lane from the right [shoulder]," police said.

While the incident remained under investigation, but UHP confirmed that along with other possibilities, it was looking into whether the incident may have been a suicide.

Troopers say a 41-year-old Oklahoma man is dead after he walked into interstate traffic in southern Utah. Authorities say they still don't know why Muskogee resident John Madison stepped onto Interstate 15 in St. George a little before 2 p.m. Thursday. Troopers say the driver of a Toyota Highlander towing a small U-Haul trailer swerved, but wasn't able to avoid hitting him. Madison landed in the middle of the freeway and was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries.
