Man struck, killed as he walks onto I-15 in Draper.
A 19-year-old man was fatally struck by a car when he inexplicably walked onto southbound Interstate 15 early Tuesday morning.
A Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. spokesman said 2:42 a.m. accident occurred at 13400 South in Draper.
"[The victim] was wearing dark clothing and not seen by the driver of a 2008 Ford Focus when he stepped onto into the lane from the right [shoulder]," police said.
While the incident remained under investigation, but UHP confirmed that along with other possibilities, it was looking into whether the incident may have been a suicide.
The same man may have been observed walking and acting suspiciously along the freeway earlier, but Royce said that had not been confirmed.
The identity of the victim was not immediately released.
UHP troopers and Draper police both responded, closing down several southbound lanes as they investigated.
