A single-vehicle wreck killed one person on Christmas Day. South Carolina Highway Patrol said a motorist died after a crash on S.C. 66 just after 6 p.m. Wednesday. Troopers said a pickup truck ran off the right side of the road, hit a sign and a guide wire, overturned and hit a tree. Authorities said the crash trapped the driver. The driver was removed from the car, taken to Laurens County Medical Center and pronounced dead. The coroner has not released the victim’s identity.

Mauldin investigators said they are searching for witnesses who can help piece together a fatal wreck that killed one and injured two others Monday.

A police detective said the accident happened just after 9 a.m. on West Butler Road between West Pointe Boulevard and Whatley Circle.

The collision involved a white box truck, a Chrysler Pacifica and a Subaru Outback, police said.

Two of the drivers were transported to the hospital, and it’s still unclear what caused the crash.

Authorities said a woman was killed following a police chase that ended with gunfire in Anderson on Friday.

Anderson City Police said officers responded to a call about a shoplifter at the Kohl’s on Clemson Boulevard.

The coroner stated that a passenger hopped out of the suspect car during a traffic stop, and the driver, Sharon McDowell, 49, of Anderson, fled, leading police on a chase to Appleton Street, where she turned into a dirt drive.

The driver put the car in reverse and started ramming into the officers’ car.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that sent a teen driver to the hospital.

Troopers said the accident happened shortly after 5 p.m. on Tigerville Road near Langley Road, near Travelers Rest Thursday.

Troopers said a 15-year-old was headed south on Tigerville Road when he ran off the road, overcorrected and ran off the other side, hitting a tree and power pole.

North Greenville Fire said a couple of people driving by were able to stop and pull the teen out of the car.

The teen was airlifted to a hospital.

One person was killed in a collision Saturday involving an SUV and a pickup truck in Spartanburg County.

The crash happened around 12:45 p.m. on Walnut Grove Road.

The driver of the pickup was killed, authorities said.

The driver and passenger in the SUV were hospitalized.

Their condition was not released.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash early Sunday morning. The Greenville County coroner, said Stephen Richard Hughes, 55, of Greenville, was struck while crossing the southbound lanes near 3704 White Horse Rd. According to police, the crash happened around Saturday night at 11:50 p.m. Jones said Summer Powell was driving a Honda that struck the pedestrian. Troopers said a second vehicle also struck the pedestrian but left the scene. Troopers are now looking for the second driver.

An 83-year-old woman died hours after a car accident Tuesday afternoon, according to the Anderson County Coroner.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident happened at 12:50 p.m. on Broadway Lake Road in Anderson County.

McCown identified the deceased as Mary Eola Kruger, 83, of Anderson.

According to McCown, Kruger was pulling out of her driveway on Broadway Lake Road when she drove into the path of an oncoming pickup truck.

The driver of the pick-up truck was not injured, said McCown.

A man died in a wreck on Old Pelzer Road at McMahan Road Tuesday morning, according to the Greenville County. The wreck happened about 9:30 a.m., according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol website. Troopers say the male driver went off the right side of road, over-corrected, went off the left side of the road, hit a tree and overturned. The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of his family.

A spokesman for Amtrak says seven of the nine cars of the Amtrak Crescent came off the tracks around midnight. The Spartanburg County Fire Marshal says four of the 207 passengers suffered minor injuries. None of the 11 crew members were hurt. The Amtrak Crescent was traveling north from New Orleans. The train was expected to make its final stop in New York City later Monday. Amtrak is investigating why the train derailed.
