At about 6:07am, Joan Freeman, 81, was walking across South Rainbow Boulevard when she was hit by car driven by Curtis Shewbert, 36. She sustained major injuries and was unconscious as she was transported to the hospital. Two days later, on Friday, March 13, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. Freeman was not in a marked crosswalk when hit, and Shewbert remained at the scene and met with authorities.

Las Vegas police investigate the scene where a vehicle hit and killed a 63-year-old male pedestrian and injured an 18-month-old child on South Rainbow Boulevard near Warm Springs Road in Las Vegas on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014. The man who was killed by a hit-and-run vehicle while pushing his granddaughter in a stroller Monday morning has been identified as Michael Grubbs, 63, of Las Vegas. He and his 18-month-old granddaughter were hit about 10:45 a.m. by a dark gray Honda Civic while they walked along the shoulder of South Rainbow Boulevard near Warm Springs Road.
