At 10:18 a.m., Jon Monroe was standing on the sidewalk near the liquor store where he works at 8645 S. Rainbow Blvd. when Darby Neagle, 43, drove a 2005 Chevrolet C3500 onto the sidewalk and struck him as Neagle was attempting to park. Neagle, also of Las Vegas, then backed up through the parking lot, causing the back of the Chevrolet to hit the front of a parked 2006 Dodge Durango, before he fled south on South Rainbow Boulevard. Monroe was taken to University Medical Center Trauma with critical injuries. Police, K-9 and air units found the Chevrolet in the area and blocked the car’s path.
