Officials say a 77-year-old driver of a semi-truck from Illinois has died in a collision with a slow-moving freight train in southwestern Michigan. The Kalamazoo Gazette reports the driver is identified as Bobby Abell, of Quincy. The St. Joseph County sheriff's department says the crash around 5 p.m. Thursday near White Pigeon caused at least one car on the train to derail and tip, blocking traffic in the area.

Authorities in Bay County say a drunken driver crashed an SUV into a house, killing a man who lived there and injuring his wife. The crash happened early Sunday in Auburn, about 10 miles west of Bay City. Police stated that the dead man was 41-year-old Vaughn Lietzke. Authorities say his 42-year-old wife Sandra Lietzke was airlifted to Saginaw’s Saint Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center, where she was in stable condition. Deputies say the 21-year-old driver, later identified as Hunter D. Motko, 21, failed to stop at a stop sign, ran over a curb and struck a corner of the house.

Authorities say an 86-year-old woman has died after a collision involving a school bus in the Grand Rapids area. Ione Potter of Cannonsburg died in the crash, which happened Monday afternoon in Kent County's Cannon Township. The Rockford Public Schools bus was making a turn at the time and had five or six Cannonsburg Elementary School students on board. They weren't injured.

Authorities say one snowmobiler was killed and another seriously hurt in a crash in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Luce County Sheriff's Deputy Steven Kellogg said two groups of snowmobiles were riding a trail in McMillan Township on Wednesday afternoon when the leaders from each group collided at a sharp corner. Sheriff's officials say 43-year-old Timothy Hearld of Larwill, Ind., died at the scene. Forty-year-old Joseph Brandel of Milford, Ohio, was flown to a hospital in his home state with serious injuries.

Authorities say two men are dead following a weekend collision between a freight train and a pickup truck in Genesee County. 31-year-old Robert Bosch of Gaines and 67-year-old Theodore Pudvay of Argentine Township died at the scene of Saturday afternoon’s crash.
