All eastbound lanes of Interstate 44 were closed in west St. Louis County due to a jackknifed tractor-trailer Thursday morning.

The incident happened on the interstate near Six Flags in Eureka around 6:20 a.m.

All lanes were shut down as the truck was spread out from median to shoulder. Crews responded to the scene and eventually got the tractor trailer off the interstate, though the roadway remained closed until about 8:20 a.m.

Emergency crews were on scene at an icy patch of highway 64/40 Thursday afternoon after multiple accidents happened just moments apart. Just west of the Boone Bridge on westbound 64/40, a female motorist hit a patch of ice and spun off the highway. The vehicle went across Technology Drive, a bordering roadway, before sliding into an embankment. The driver was not hurt, and there was no one else in the car. While officers responded, a second vehicle hit the same patch of ice, causing it to overturn. During the accident, one of the three people inside the vehicle was ejected.

Two police officers were injured in a two-vehicle wreck in north St. Louis County on Monday. Authorities say a St. Louis County squad car and pick-up truck collided on Dunn near Bellefontaine around 12:10 p.m. Multiple ambulances and fire trucks responded to the scene and one St. Louis County police officer was trapped and had to be extracted from the vehicle. The two officers were taken to the hospital and one of them had a broken leg. The eastbound lanes of Dunn were closed while crews cleaned up the scene. It was not immediately known what caused the wreck.

Four firefighters and a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper responding to an accident were injured when a another vehicle cross the median on Interstate 70 Saturday afternoon.

According to a spokesperson with the Missouri Highway Patrol, the vehicle was headed eastbound on Interstate 70 going too fast for the road conditions when it ran off the highway, over the median cable and into the emergency crews. The accident happened near mile marker 77 in Saline County, near Marshall.

Icy roads may be to blame for a fatal accident in the Northland on Saturday.

It happened on Highway 152 near North Indiana Ave., just before 4 p.m.

Kansas City Police say one person died after their vehicle went off the overpass.
The other person in the car sustained injuries, but the extent of those injuries are unknown.

The icy roads are being blamed for a crash that killed an unidentified man in Kansas City, North. The man died shortly before 4 p.m. in a one-vehicle accident near the intersection of Missouri 152 and North Indiana Avenue. Police said they would not identify the driver until they had notified his family.

A school bus was involved in a two-vehicle wreck in Eureka on Thursday. The bus came to a stop in a ditch after it apparently hit a pickup truck on Rt. 109 just south of Interstate 44 around 6:50 a.m. It appeared the bus may have also hit a yield sign, which was seen on the ground at the scene. No students were onboard the bus. Two people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police were called to scene of a rollover accident in Jefferson County Wednesday morning.

The accident happened on northbound Interstate 55 at the 174 mile marker in Festus just before 6:00 a.m.

It was not known if anyone was injured.

One person was arrested after a multi-vehicle wreck shut down Interstate 270 for several hours in north St. Louis County late Tuesday night. The wreck happened on I-270 at Route 370 in Bridgeton around 11:45 p.m. According to police, Javier Hernandez was driving eastbound when he lost control of his 2001 Grand Prix and struck a 2000 Ford Explorer, causing it to roll over. Hernandez was taken into custody and later charged with driving while intoxicated and 2nd-degree felony assault. The driver of the Explorer suffered minor injuries.

Police said one person died after a wrong way crash on I-44 Friday night.

Police said the accident happened just before 7:30 pm. Authorities said 79-year-old St. Louis resident Margie O’Shaughnessy was driving east in the westbound lanes of I-44 near Bowles Avenue when she hit a car driven by 28-year-old Michael Gavosto. Police said O’Shaughnessy’s vehicle then slammed into the highway’s sidewall.

Authorities said a car driven by 46-year-old Timothy Aubuchon, which was behind Gavosto’s vehicle, then swerved and hit a vehicle driven by 65-year-old Suzanne Sloan.
