Sunday, May 24, 2015Investigators say 18-year-old Chasen Brown was changing lanes when she approached another vehicle quickly on I-240 near Charlotte Street Sunday morning. She overcorrected to avoid hitting the vehicle and lost control, leaving the roadway and striking a tree. She died at the scene.

Sunday, February 1, 2015A 16-year-old girl not licensed to drive was the driver in a crash that killed a 17-year-old girl in Candler, Buncombe County. Celeste Perez, 17, of Waynesville, was killed in the wreck Sunday evening. The driver and a passenger, neither yet identfied, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. Authorities say speed was a factor in the crash when the 16-year-old lost control of the vehicle, ran off the road and hit a tree. None of the occupants were wearing a seat belt and Perez was ejected from the car.
