A wrong-way crash on Interstate 81 in Cumberland County left one woman dead on Tuesday night. State police say a tractor-trailer crashed head-on into a vehicle headed north in the southbound lanes in Silver Spring Township. The collision happened after the truck sideswiped another vehicle trying to avoid the oncoming car. The crash happened shortly before 9 p.m. on I-81 near mile marker 57 outside of Mechanicsburg. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle, Aaron King, of Carlisle, was killed

A Quarryville man was seriously injured after he and two others were ejected from a pickup truck during a single-vehicle crash in Providence Township on Sunday, state police said.

A fatal crash involving a tractor-trailer is causing major delays on Route 222 in Lancaster County.

The crash happened shortly after 4 a.m. in the northbound lanes of 222 about a mile south of the Denver Turnpike exit.

Northbound traffic is down to one lane and is expected to remain that way for hours (as of 10:30 a.m.).

The tractor-trailer was carrying construction equipment. It's not yet known what caused the crash.

A 2-year-old boy has passed away after he was hit by a vehicle in his Cumberland County driveway on Thursday. The accident happened around 4 p.m. at a home along the 1000 block of South Market Street in Upper Allen Township. "The accident occurred in the private driveway area of a residence and the vehicle involved was operated by the homeowner," a police news release stated. The child was airlifted to Hershey Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. Police said they are continuing to investigate the incident, but do not believe it to be criminal in nature.

Downed power lines closed a road in Swatara Township in Lebanon County for more than an hour after an SUV crashed into a utility pole earlier Wednesday, state police said. Neither the 17-year-old female driver nor the 16-year-old male passenger of the 1998 Ford Ranger were seriously injured in the crash, which police said took place around 9 a.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Greble Road in Lebanon.

A 71-year-old woman was killed Wednesday in a single-vehicle crash in Washington County.

The Washington Co. Coroner said Joyce Elaine Emerick, of Marianna, was driving her Chevy Blazer on Little Daniels Road in North Bethlehem Township when she crashed at 11:30 a.m.

Emerick's SUV went off the road, hit an embankment and rolled over, the coroner said. She was taken to Washington Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 12:37 p.m.

Emerick's cause and manner of death have not yet been determined.

State police in Washington are investigating.

Washington Township police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal accident that happened just before 10 a.m. Sunday.

Police say a white 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer was heading south in the 3800 block of Marsh Road in Waynesboro and failed to negotiate a right turn.

The vehicle left the south side of the roadway and struck a tree, according to police.

Investigators say the driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

A husband and wife from Hanover died Sunday evening when a backhoe operated by a teenager drove into the path of their car on Route 116 in Heidelberg Township, York County, Southwestern Regional Police said. Police identified the victims Monday as Roy Kline Jr., 86, and his 85-year-old wife, Lorraine. They did not identify the 17-year-old who was operating the backhoe and who lives near the scene of the accident. The investigation of the crash is continuing, police said.

A car sideswiped a police car in Center City this morning sending one person to the hospital. According to Philadelphia Police, a Nissan Altima crashed into the parked police cruiser at 17th and Ludlow Street -- Ludlow is between Market and Chestnut Streets around 8:15 a.m. One person was taken to Hahnemann Hospital for treatment, according to dispatchers. It wasn’t clear if the injured person was a civilian or a police officer.

A Carlisle man was killed Wednesday morning in Franklin Township when a pickup truck hit him while he was standing on the side of the road, the York County Deputy coroner said. Connor Scott Waterfield, 21, of Shugart Road, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision on Twin Hills Road near May Drive. The incident has been ruled accidental, Cosey said.
