A Quarryville man was seriously injured after he and two others were ejected from a pickup truck during a single-vehicle crash in Providence Township on Sunday, state police said. The crash took place at Route 272 approaching 251 Lancaster Pike at 8:35 p.m., when, for reasons still under investigation, the driver of the northbound truck lost control in a short tunnel, according to state police. As the vehicle began to slide in the roadway, it struck an embankment and was launched into the air, state police said. All three occupants of the truck, a silver Ford Super Duty, were ejected from the truck, which overturned and struck two trees after it became airborne, police said. None of the occupants of the vehicle, including a juvenile girl passenger, was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, state police said. The driver of the truck, identified as Frederick Frey, of Quarryville, suffered moderate injuries while the juvenile female passenger, of Leola, suffered injuries of an unknown extent, according to a state police report. The third passenger, Quarryville resident John Long, suffered serious injuries and was scheduled to undergo surgery as of early Monday, according to the release. His condition was unknown as of 8 a.m. Monday. State police were still investigating what led to the crash as of Monday morning and no charges were filed as of 8 a.m., according to state police and an online search of court records.
