At about 7:00pm, a 17-year-old driver was traveling at a high-speed on wet roads. This caused him to lose control of his vehicle, strike a curb, followed by a brick fence, and finally come to rest with the vehicle upside-down. The crash killed a 16-year-old passenger in the car, and injured the 17-year-old enough to warrant them being airlifted to the hospital. A San Antonio police officer saw a car speeding on Babcock Road. He went to investigate and found the vehicle had crashed into the parking lot of a strip mall. The driver had hit a curb and flipped several times before coming to rest between two cement poles. Emergency responders were required to remove the two people inside the car. The driver and passenger were then sent to a local hospital in critical condition. The accident is under investigation. Police are trying to determine if alcohol was a factor.
