Police have found and recovered the body of a young woman who was in a car that crashed into Lake Waco on New Year's Eve. Brittany Stevenson, 24, was initially thought to have exited the submerged vehicle after divers spent hours searching, but found no trace of her. However, Waco Police Sgt. Patrick Swanton released a statement that divers had recovered Stevenson's body. Stevenson was in a Kia Forte that smashed through a guardrail and over a dirt barrier into Lake Waco around 11 p.m. Wednesday. A second woman in the car was able to exit the car and swim to safety.

A woman floated out of her submerged car Thursday morning as it was pulled from Lake Houston nearly an hour after she plunged into the water, officials said. The incident occurred about 9 a.m. at the Duessen Park Boat Ramp, according to the Houston Fire Department. As the car was being towed from the water, the woman floated out a broken window, said a spokeswoman for the Harris County Sheriff's Office. She was gasping for air.

A Baylor University stadium construction worker was killed and a co-worker was treated for hypothermia after an accident that plunged both into the Brazos River. Waco police said the two men were working on a pedestrian bridge over the river on Tuesday. They were pulled into the water when some construction equipment they were harnessed to fell from a floating dock. Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton says one man unfastened his safety harness and made it to the surface. He was treated and released from a hospital.

According to Coppell Police, a Hurst resident crashed into a median, and ended up in Grapevine Creek. 61 year old, Jay T. Clement, died in the single car crash. He was traveling eastbound on I-635, when his Toyota Highlander left the roadway and continued in the median, where it finally came to a stop in the creek. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
