A woman floated out of her submerged car Thursday morning as it was pulled from Lake Houston nearly an hour after she plunged into the water, officials said. The incident occurred about 9 a.m. at the Duessen Park Boat Ramp, according to the Houston Fire Department. As the car was being towed from the water, the woman floated out a broken window, said a spokeswoman for the Harris County Sheriff's Office. She was gasping for air. Garza said the car had reportedly splashed into the lake and been underwater for about 50 minutes before it was pulled onto dry land. The woman was inside and must have been breathing in an air pocket. The spokesperson said the woman, whose name has not been released, was taken to a nearby hospital. Her condition was not known, but a spokesperson said she is expected to survive. No information was released about what led to the incident. Police are investigating the case.
