It was about 5:45 p.m. when an ambulance was responding to a call for aid on North End Drive, and was hijacked by a woman with a knife when it arrived at it's destination. The woman drove away alone in the ambulance, but ended up colliding head-on with a semi-truck on Frazier Mountain Park Road. The man in the semi-truck was found dead at the scene, while the woman sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead later at the hospital.
