A Texas man was arrested after police say he commandeered an ambulance at knifepoint and reached speeds of 70 mph along city streets before crashing into a fence.

“The crew had just completed a call at the hospital and they were in the ambulance completing paperwork,” MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky said Monday. “A man walked up to them and told them that he wanted the ambulance.”
Kenneth Golightly ordered two EMTs from an ambulance with his knife, then stole the vehicle and went speeding off into the city with the emergency lights on. Witnesses say he reached up to 70 mph. The joyride ended when the ambulance crashed into a fence. Golightly attempted to flee the scene, but a witness was able to direct officers to him. He was taken into custody, with his bond set at $20,000.
