Hailey Evans, 20, of Price, was critically injured Saturday around 5 pm when the vehicle she was driving hit a Jeep head-on in the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 6 near Soldier Summit. Evans tried to pass a semitruck just before the passing lane ended but was traveling too fast and lost control when she tried to move back in front of the truck. Her car crashed into an oncoming Jeep and Evans, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was ejected from her car. She was airlifted to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo in critical condition.

One motorcyclist managed to avoid the truck, but the other hit it head-on and was thrown from his vehicle before dying. The driver of the truck was flown to Intermountain Medical Center with serious injuries.

A Utah Department of Public Safety spokesperson released the name of the victim involved in a fatal car accident on U.S. Highway 6 Friday night. Gregory D. Leavitt, 34, of Pleasant Grove died in a fiery collision with a semi-truck, after veering into oncoming traffic near Spanish Fork Canyon, according to a press release. The collision caused the semi-truck to jackknife and spill two trailers full of coal onto the highway. It also caused a brief fire in the cab of the semi-truck, injuring driver David Lee of Orem.
