According to witnesses, a 28-year-old man was driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed south on Highway 88 for several minutes, when he for some reason crossed into the northbound lane and struck a car driven by a 48-year-old woman head-on. A car driven by a 66-year-old man that was behind the woman also struck her. The 28-year-old man's car ended up off of the roadway and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The 48-year-old woman sustained major injuries and was taken to the hospital, while the 66-year-old man sustained only minor injuries.

One woman is dead and two men injured, including a sheriff's deputy, after a head-on collision in west Harris County, Texas. The incident occured around 3:00 a.m. Friday morning in the 15300 block of Clay Road next to North Eldridge Parkway when the deputy was driving a marked squad car eastbound on Clay Road. It was then that Ford Fusion slammed into the squad car travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes. Deputy D. Johnson, 37, was flown to Memorial Hermann/The Texas Medical Center with a broken leg and other injuries.
