Three people including a 6-year-old, died in a wrong-way collision on I-85 in Orange County Sunday morning. Felicia Harris, 49, of Charlotte, was killed in the collision around 3 a.m. Another child was treated for serious injuries at UNC Hospital, and Michael Chandler Kania, 20, was treated for his injuries as well. Kania was driving a Jeep Wrangler north in the southbound lanes when he crashed head-on with a Suzuki car driven by Harris. On Saturday in Watauga County, the North Carolina Highway Patrol says a pickup truck driven by Michael Pinkham was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crossed the center line on U.S. 421 near the Tennessee state line at 8:30 p.m., violently striking a Honda Civic head-on. Inside the Honda was a family from Mountaun City, Tennessee: Nicholas Blackwell, 24, his wife Molly, 23, and their infant Harper, 11 months old. All three died at the scene. Pinkham, of Ridgeway, South Carolina, died an hour later at Watauga Medical Center in Boone.

Whitfield was driving a 2006 Lexus ES330 east in the westbound lanes of I-40W/Bus85S when he collided with a 2004 Freightliner semi-trailer truck, which was headed westbound and driven by Harold Mitchell Doster Jr., 45, of Charlotte. Whitefield was killed in the crash, which remains under investigation.

One person was injured following a three-vehicle collision on N.C. Highway 42 Monday morning, near Fuquay-Varina. The accident occured on October 27, 2014 when a sedan crossed the double yellow lines at Barber Bridge road and collided with the side of a dump truck; the truck was unable to stop after losing its air brakes and crashed into a pickup truck. The driver of the sedan was taken to the hospital to treat non life-threatening injuries.

Brandon Boles, of Stokes County, and Pablo Cruz, of Dudley, were killed in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 40 before the Farmington Road exit Sunday morning. A Ford pickup truck was traveling east in westbound lanes when it hit a Chevrolet pickup head-on. The vehicle driven by Cruz was traveling east in the westbound lane. The Chevrolet caught fire after the crash.

A 91-year-old Hendersonville man in a pickup was driving west in the eastbound lane of I-26 around 9:30 p.m. Monday when he hit a car driven by 36-year-old Samuel David Guberman of Greer, South Carolina, who died at the scene, as did the 91-year-old driver. No further information is available at this time; check back for updates.

One person is dead after an wreck on Brookshire Freeway at the North Davidson Exit. Sunday morning just before 3:30 a.m. Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said a 2013 Honda Civic was traveling the wrong way on the Brookshire Freeway inner loop when it struck a 2001 Dodge Caravan head-on. Police said 36-year-old Cory Rodriguez Lee was pronounced deceased on the scene. Lee was the driver of the Honda Civic. Police said the driver of the 2001 Dodge Caravan, Juan Manuel Diaz Zarante, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

A man who crashed his car into a house Thursday evening is accused of driving the wrong way down another street minutes earlier — all while being “extremely impaired.” Burlington police were searching for the 1994 Honda Accord driven by Mario O’Keith Strayhorn, 22, of Roslyn Drive, after it struck another car while going the wrong way down Fisher Street.
