Police: Wrong way driver dead after wreck on Brookshire Freeway

One person is dead after an wreck on Brookshire Freeway at the North Davidson Exit. Sunday morning just before 3:30 a.m. Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said a 2013 Honda Civic was traveling the wrong way on the Brookshire Freeway inner loop when it struck a 2001 Dodge Caravan head-on. Police said 36-year-old Cory Rodriguez Lee was pronounced deceased on the scene. Lee was the driver of the Honda Civic. Police said the driver of the 2001 Dodge Caravan, Juan Manuel Diaz Zarante, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Detectives are attempting to determine how the driver ended up traveling in the wrong direction on Brookshire Freeway. Detectives are working to find out if speed or alcohol were factors in the crash. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective R.C.
