At about 8:45 a.m., an eastbound van crossed the center median and overturned on the westbound lanes of Interstate 40 near Benson. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the 15-passenger van lost control after one of its tires blew out. Nine people in the van were transported to WakeMed, five were transported to a Clayton hospital, while one was brought to a hospital in Smithfield.

At about 8 a.m. on Highway 15-501 a multi-vehiucle crash occured that took the lives of two people. Gonzaled-Saavedra was driving on Highway 15-501 when for unknown resaons the the vehicle drifted into the median. Upon entering the median, the SUV flipped on to its northbound side. A 21-year-old driver was killed in a head-on collision early Sunday in Knightdale while driving on Smithfield Road. He crossed the center line and hit another vehicle near Joyful Lane. The driver died at the scene, and the passenger and driver of the other car were brought to WakeMed to treat their injuries.

According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Thomas Ray of Bunnlevel was westbound in a GMC truck when he collided with an eastbound Ford driven by Elinito Saustegui of Sanford on U.S. 421 near the Swanns Station Road intersection. A motorcyclist traveling behind the Ford and swerved to avoid the crash, and he was thrown from his motorcycle. That man was airlifted to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. The accident occurred on Monday afternoon.

On Friday morning, Anthony Suggs Jr., of Clayton, was riding a motorcycle along N.C. 42 near Thanksgiving Fire Department Road when he approached a tractor that was mowing grass on the shoulder. The tractor pulled into Suggs' path, and Suggs struck the back of the machine and was thrown from his bike. He died at the scene. The driver of the tractor, William Pittman of Benson, has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and unsafe movement.

Two people died Saturday morning in a collision on Rolesville Road, near Farmfield Drive in Wake County at about 10:15 a.m. The crash happened when a 2006 Saturn heading east on Roseville Road crossed the center line and crashed head-on with a with Mercedes. The driver of the Saturn, Christian Lynn Lockamy, 16, of Wendell, and the passenger in the front seat, were both killed. The driver of the Mercedes, Kimberly Harris Nipper, 45, of Raleigh, was transported to WakeMed with non-life-threatening injuries.

A toddler and a teenager are among four people who died in a head-on car accident in Edgecombe County Sunday. The collision occurred shortly before noon near Pinetops when a car crossed the center line of NC 42 and hit another vehicle head-on. The deceased victims as Stephanie Collins, 45, Alan Thompson, 30, Mickeyla Little, 15, and Christian Thompson, 2. The surviving victim, Randy Collins of Elm City, is listed in stable condition at a Greenville hospital. Speed appears to have been a factor. Check back for more information as it becomes available.

A teen from Wendell died late Thursday after a single-car accident on N.C. Highway 231 near Applewhite Road. Joseph Warren Early lost control of his vehicle at about 9:40 p.m. near Corinth Holders. The car departed the road, hit a ditch, a power pole, and then a tree. Early was ejected from the car, and died at the crash site.
