At about 6:13 a.m., 55-year-old Rudolph Skakel had just exited his garbage truck to collect trash when it began rolling down Northern Boulevard. He ran and jumped onto a step on the passenger's side of the truck in an attempt to control the truck, but was killed as the truck crushed him against a utility pole. His death has been ruled an accident.

On March 6th 2015 at 11:06 PM, the New York State Police responded to a report of an accident on the eastbound Northern State Parkway east of exit 30, in the Town of Hempstead.  A Chevrolet Malibu and a BMW were both traveling eastbound when they collided.  This resulted in the Chevrolet exiting the roadway, striking the center median and entering the westbound lanes, before coming to rest on its roof.  Both occupants of the Chevrolet sustained minor injuries and were transported to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.  The operator of the BMW simultaneously lost control of his vehicl

A 63-year-old man was attempting to cross the Belt Parkway near the Van Wyck Expressway at around 5 a.m. when an Acura sedan that was traveling on the roadway struck him. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene after the crash.
