Both cars were traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash, but drugs and alcohol are not considered to have played a role in the crash, Newsday reported, citing a State Police spokesman.
On March 6th 2015 at 11:06 PM, the New York State Police responded to a report of an accident on the eastbound Northern State Parkway east of exit 30, in the Town of Hempstead.  A Chevrolet Malibu and a BMW were both traveling eastbound when they collided.  This resulted in the Chevrolet exiting the roadway, striking the center median and entering the westbound lanes, before coming to rest on its roof.  Both occupants of the Chevrolet sustained minor injuries and were transported to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.  The operator of the BMW simultaneously lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree on the right shoulder.  The driver and rear seat passenger of the BMW suffered serious injuries and were transported to local area hospitals.  The front seat passenger of the BMW, Justin McClyment, age 17, of Rosedale NY, was pronounced deceased at the accident scene.  Investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
