One person is dead after a car hit two vehicles on Interstate 35 in Fairbault, Minn. Sunday night. Mach Kuel, 39, of Coon Rapids died Sunday after the car he was traveling in hit one vehicle and side-swiped another.

A Farmington man died after his car hit a tree in Red Wing on Saturday morning, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The state patrol says the 24-year-old man was driving on Cannon River Avenue off of Highway 61 around 4:30 a.m. when he ran off the road. He then hit a tree, the state patrol says.

The state patrol says it was a single car accident. His identity has not been released until officers are able to notify family.

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office, Goodhue County Sheriff's Office and the Red Wing Police Department are assisting.

The Minnesota State Patrol is on the scene of a fatal crash west of the Twin Cities Tuesday morning.
Authorities were called to the area of Highway 7 and Highway 22, which is just east of Hutchinson, at about 5:33 a .m. on a report of a head-on crash involving two vehicles. Little information has been released about the crash, but the State Patrol said at least one person has been killed.

An SUV struck a car pulling out of a Wright County gas station Sunday, killing a passenger in the larger vehicle.

The crash occurred about 12:20 p.m. Sunday along Hwy. 55 near 53rd Street NW. in Maple Lake, according to the State Patrol.

Janice P. Bowman, 71, of Annandale, Minn., died in the crash, the patrol said. Behind the wheel of the SUV was her husband, Robert J. Bowman, 71. He was hospitalized with noncritical injuries.

A two-car collision at a busy Bloomington intersection has claimed the life of a 92-year-old man and has the man’s wife and the other driver both claiming the right of way, authorities said Thursday.

The crash occurred about 2:30 p.m. on May 7 at Normandale Boulevard and W. 98th Street, killing William H. Kappes Sr., of Minneapolis, police said.

Kappes was hospitalized at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis and died Tuesday, the medical examiner’s office said.

William and Irene Kappes had been married for more than 70 years, according to family.

A 33-year-old man lost control of his car along Intestate 94 in Maple Grove, hit a utility equipment building and was killed, authorities said.

The crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday on eastbound I-94 near Maple Grove Parkway, according to the State Patrol.

Killed was Andrew Hou, of Edina, the patrol said.

He was wearing a seat belt, and alcohol use does not appear to be a factor, the patrol added.

The patrol did note that the driving surface was wet at the time.

A man killed in a crash that shut down part of westbound Highway 55 at Lexington Avenue in Mendota Heights has been identified.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Kevin Hough, 55, of Farmington was killed when he was hit by 53-year-old Gary Ferm of Bloomington, who was eastbound on Hwy. 55. Ferm's vehicle veered into the westbound lanes and hit Hough.

Ferm suffered non-life threatening injuries, the state patrol said.

Roads were dry at the time.

A driver on probation for a traffic offense was jailed Saturday on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide in connection with the Friday night death of a Minneapolis mail handler.

Charles R. Lord, 65, died at North Memorial Medical Center at 1:39 a.m. Saturday — 3½ hours after the accident at W. Broadway and Logan Avenue N., according to the Hennepin County medical examiner’s office.

A 32-year-old suspect ran away from the scene after Lord was run over on a sidewalk and the van ran into a building shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, police said.

Investigators are looking into whether a Baldwin woman whose body was found in a western Wisconsin lake became disoriented after a car crash. The St. Croix (kroy) County sheriff's office was called to the crash around 5 a.m. Sunday in the Town of Hammond. Deputies found no one in the car. Authorities say emergency responders searched the area and found the body of 38-year-old Kristelle Wolle in nearby Pine Lake. Sheriff's Capt. Jeff Klatt stated that Wolle may have walked into the lake after the crash.

Neglecting to wear a seat belt and being under the influence of alcohol were noted as factors in a single-vehicle crash that killed a young man from east-central Minnesota. Cole R. Hegge, 24, of Hinckley, was heading west in his car on Hwy. 18 west of Finlayson shortly after 7 p.m., when he fell asleep, drove onto the right shoulder, hit trees and rolled over, according to the State Patrol. He was thrown from the vehicle and was dead at the scene. The patrol said Hegge did not have on his seat belt and evidence at the scene indicated that he had been drinking before getting behind the wheel.
