The vehicle was traveling north at about 11:40 p.m. on Congaree Road near Goodwin Road when it went left of center. Police report that the driver overcorrected, causing the car to overturn. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in the car. Alfred Jackson, 77, of Decatur, Georgia, was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a collision on I-20 near Leesville. Jackson was transported to the hospital where he died. The van Jackson was riding in was eastbound on I-20 when it collided with a pickup at about 5 a.m. Thursday. The driver of the van and other passengers were transported to local hospitals. Their names and conditions have not been released. The driver of the pickup was not injured in the collision.
Deputies attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle near the intersection of Hazelwood Drive and Burdell Road when the vehicle took off. The suspect car crashed near the intersection of Leesburg Road and Old Leesburg road, and Johnson, the driver of suspicious vehicle, died at the scene while the passenger was taken to a hospital.
