The 57-year-old driver lost control of the car, rear-ended another vehicle and bounced off before striking three other vehicles, McGirt said. The first vehicle struck veered across the intersection and struck a pickup.

Nine Injured in Sumter Wreck

McGirt said two of the injured people were airlifted to Columbia-area hospitals with serious injuries. The seven others were taken to Tuomey Regional in Sumter. All of the injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.
