Raleigh-Durham, NCA man faces misdemeanor charges after a passenger died in a head-on crash on a snowy Chatham County road Wednesday.
Miguel Arquimides Caseres, 45, of Siler City, was charged following a crash around 1:15 p.m. on Silk Road near Romine Pike Road.
Caseres was driving a 1996 Ford car on a snow-covered road when it crossed the center line and crashed into a 1999 Chevrolet, troopers said. The passenger in the Chevrolet died.
The passenger's name hasn't been released pending notification of next-of-kin.
Caseres also was charged with exceeding a safe speed.

Raleigh-Durham, NCThe head-on collision late Wednesday that killed two drivers is fourth fatal wreck involving drivers heading the wrong way on U.S. Highway 1 between Southern Pines and Sanford in the last six years, according to authorities.
A Toyota SUV driven by Terrell Abbott, 36, of Texas, was southbound in the northbound lanes of U.S. 1 north of Southern Pines at about 10:45 p.m. when it slammed into a Toyota sedan driven by Jasmine Wicker, 20, of Sanford, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.

Raleigh-Durham, NCNine people were taken to three area hospitals Wednesday morning after a school bus and a tractor-trailer collided on U.S. 70 in Johnston County, officials said.
The incident happened about 7 a.m. near the highway’s intersection with Uzzle Industrial Drive, officials said.
The bus had 13 students on board. Seven students were taken by EMS, along with the drivers of both the bus and truck. The bus, number 63, was transporting students to Smithfield Middle School.

Raleigh-Durham, NCTwo men died in a head-on collision on N.C. 98 in Durham County on Friday morning, and another has been charged with driving while impaired and two counts of felony death by motor vehicle, the Highway Patrol says.
The victims have been identified as Jorge Avalar and his brother, Andreas Avalar, of Durham, according to a statement by the Highway Patrol.

Raleigh-Durham, NCTwo Raleigh men were killed Friday evening when the car they were in went out of control, hit a curb, left the road and struck three trees on Lynn Road in North Raleigh.
The driver, Logan Sloan Aronson of Raleigh, and his passenger, Edward Blake Tolley of Raleigh, both 23, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident happened about 7 p.m. near the intersection of Lynn and Lead Mine roads.
The speed limit on that part of Lynn Road is 45 mph, but police estimated that the 2003 Acura, headed westbound toward Lead Mine, was traveling 90 mph when it left the road.

Raleigh-Durham, NCThree men were killed Saturday night when their car slammed into a tree in Willow Spring in Johnston County, about 6 miles east of Angier.
State troopers said Douglas Ray Baldwin, 46, of Wild Jasmine Court in Willow Spring, was driving west at a high speed when he ran off Dupree Road and struck a tree just before 10 p.m.
Witnesses said they heard a boom just before the crash and then saw the car flip before impact. The car split, they said, and glass was embedded in the tree more than 12 feet high.
