Nude Woman Crashes Vehicle, Partially Clothed Passenger Flees From Scene

Blood tests to determine the female suspect’s blood-alcohol content are pending, therefore charges likely will not be filed for a few weeks, according to a Des Moines Register report.
Police responded to a wreck at the intersection of East 14th Street and Euclid Avenue in Des Moines at approximately 12:25 a.m. and discovered a rear-end two-car accident. A 44-year-old woman was driving the car that was rear-ended, and she told officers she was stopped at a red light when she was rear-ended from behind. In the driver's seat of the second car was a 25-year-old Des Moines woman who displayed numerous signs of being intoxicated and admitted to drinking, but she claimed that she wasn’t driving at the time of the accident. Des Moines Police say the car was driving at a rate of 80 mph when it struck the other vehicle, and witnesses to the accident said a male ran from the suspect’s car following the crash. Jesse Jefferies, 26, was found by officers partially clothed and intoxicated at East 9th Street and Seneca Avenue, and witnesses identified Jefferies as the man who fled. Jefferies denied any involvement with the wreck and refused a preliminary breath test and was subsequently arrested. The 25-year-old female suspect was taken to Mercy Medical Center, and the 44-year-old victim from the first car was brought to Broadlawns Medical Center with neck, back and knee pain. We'll update this story with any new details that emerge.
