A teenage driver was killed during a freak accident in South Jersey late Sunday night.

Strautman was uninjured.
At about 11 p.m. Sunday night, Lyric Smith was driving a car in the northbound lanes of I-295 in Mount Laurel when she somehow lost control of her car. The vehicle left the roadway, struck a guardrail, and wound up back in the original travel lane. After the car came to a stop, Smith exited her car. A passing tractor-trailer driven by Peter Strautman, 64, attempted to go around the disabled car, but struck the teenager, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
