Driver killed, passenger hurt when car veers off road into tree
The car was eastbound on Washington Street when it went off the road around 9 p.m. near the intersection of Clifton Avenue, Toms River police said in a statement Tuesday.

Brandon Ayala, 53, of Bayville, died at the scene of the crash, said Ralph Stocco, spokesman for the Toms River Police Department. The identity of Ayala's passenger, who was injured in the crash, has not been released by authorities.
