Elena Walker, 2, dead and Leah Ann Burgess, 22, Tericia Williams Parrish, 48, and Wayne Steed, 66, seriously injured after rear-end chain-reaction pileup on Vicksboro Road near Henderson, NC

Just before 6:00pm, Parrish was reducing her speed on Vicksboro Road in order to make a turn, but Burgess, who was traveling behind her and had Walker as a passenger, failed to reduce her speed and rear-ended Parrish. That collision pushed Parrish's vehicle into oncoming traffic where it collided with a vehicle driven by Steed. Walker was killed, while Burgess, Parrish, and Steed were all hospitalized with serious injuries as a result of the crash.
