Corvallis man dies, 4 others injured in crash on U.S. 20 in Albany.
A Corvallis man died and four Philomath residents suffered minor injuries in a Saturday afternoon crash in Albany, the Benton County Sheriff's Office said.
Boyd Everett Taylor, 48, was driving westbound on U.S. 20 just east of Scenic Drive when he lost control of his 1999 Kia Sportage around 3:42 p.m., authorities said. He crossed broadside into the eastbound lane, where an oncoming 2011 GMC Sierra 2500 pickup collided head-on with the passenger side of Taylor's car.
Taylor was taken by ambulance to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
The four people in the GMC pickup -- driver Jeffery Cummings, 32, and passengers Noelle Cummings, 29, and two boys, 6 and 11 -- were taken to the same hospital for minor injuries. All four were treated and released.
All of the people involved in the crash were wearing seat belts except Taylor, police said. Airbags deployed in both vehicles.
The Benton County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the crash. Oregon State Police, the Albany Police and Fire departments and the Oregon Department of Transportation also assisted at the scene.
U.S. 20 was closed for three and a half hours.
