The Sutter County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of an Elk Grove man who was killed Thursday when his car hit a pickup truck parked in the road south of Yuba City after an earlier crash. He was identified Friday as 37-year-old Brian E. Ganub. The California Highway Patrol reported that at about 5:15 a.m. Thursday two vehicles were involved in a non-injury collision on northbound Highway 99 south of Oswald Road. The two vehicles remained in the road, partially blocking the left turn lane and the fast lane of Highway 99.

Two people were hurt Tuesday afternoon when a Community Transit bus struck a sport utility vehicle on Highway 99 in Lynnwood. The crash happened just before 4:30 p.m., Lynnwood police said. The southbound SUV was making a left turn in the 20400 block of the highway, Community Transit spokesman said. "The (northbound) bus couldn't stop in time and hit the car and knocked it on its side," he said. The SUV driver was taken to a Seattle hospital and was expected to survive, Wellington said. Twenty people were on the bus at the time.

A big rig has struck traffic safety barrels filled with sand south of Elk Grove on southbound Highway 99, causing a big traffic back-up.

The crash, which occurred about 6 a.m. Tuesday, caused about 25 gallons of diesel fuel to leak onto the highway. The traffic appeared to be backed up for 2.5 miles behind the crash near Twin Cities Road at 7:30 a.m.

CHP Officer Rich Wetzel is recommending Interstate 5 for motorist heading southbound from Sacramento.

The Sacramento County Coroner has released the names of three men killed in a solo car accident on southbound Highway 99 early Saturday morning, including a victim from Elk Grove. Robert Anderson, 23, of Elk Grove and Michael Anderson, 23, of Atwater died following a car crash on south of Calvine Road. According to the Merced Sun-Star, the driver of the car, Sean Leonguerrero, 24, of Merced also died when the vehicle traveled off the freeway and struck both a chain-link fence and metal pole.

Highway 99 in Hazel Dell was blocked for about two hours Thursday evening after a three-car collision.

Nobody was injured in the collision, but both directions of the highway were closed near Northeast 112th Street because there was debris and gasoline on the roadway.
