The Sutter County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of an Elk Grove man who was killed Thursday when his car hit a pickup truck parked in the road south of Yuba City after an earlier crash. He was identified Friday as 37-year-old Brian E. Ganub. The California Highway Patrol reported that at about 5:15 a.m. Thursday two vehicles were involved in a non-injury collision on northbound Highway 99 south of Oswald Road. The two vehicles remained in the road, partially blocking the left turn lane and the fast lane of Highway 99. Both of the drivers got out of their vehicles and were standing on the roadway when, six minutes later, Ganub, driving a 2005 Honda Civic, approached the earlier crash site. Ganub, traveling north on Highway 99, saw the two stopped vehicles, and hit his brakes before crashing into the stationary pickup broadside.   How can a lawyer help with an auto accident claim? First, having a lawyer on your side levels the playing field.  The person who caused the accident is required to immediately turn the case over to his or her insurance company.  The insurance company uses adjusters and lawyers who are specifically trained to deny or reduce your claim.  This may include denying compensation to family members who are entitled to receive benefits for loss of companionship.
