Buffalo, NYA 21-year-old motorist who drove into a house in Alden early today had a blood-alcohol content that was more than three times the legal limit, Erie County sheriff’s deputies reported.
Zachary E. Olejniczak of Alden was heading north on Two Rod Road, shortly before 12:30 a.m., when he failed to stop at the intersection of Westwood Road, deputies said. His car went across the road and crashed into a home at 11664 Westwood Road, causing significant damage to the foundation.
The people who live there were home at the time but not injured, deputies said.

Minneapolis-St. Paul, MNOne of two snowmobiles riding together crashed into an unoccupied ice fishing trailer on a western Wisconsin lake late at night, killing a 20-year-old woman riding behind the drunken operator on the trailing machine, authorities said Thursday.
The crash occurred about 10 p.m. Wednesday on Bone Lake, southeast of Luck, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman suffered “severe head injuries” despite wearing a helmet, the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

San Diego, CAA driver led La Mesa police on a chase Wednesday night that entered Lemon Grove and ended in a crash and arrest. No one was injured.
At around 9:35 p.m. a La Mesa officer observed a driver in a white Dodge Charger run a stop sign at Waite Drive and Harris Street. The driver ignored the officer’s attempt to pull him over, kicking off a chase on state Highway 94 and city streets.
The Dodge’s driver turned off his lights and attempted to lose officers by running stop signs and red traffic signals, according to a statement from La Mesa police.

Portland, ORWashington State Patrol says speed and intoxicants were factors in a crash on Interstate 5 Sunday night in Vancouver. Kevin W. Smith, 52, of Kelso was reportedly driving south on Interstate 5 about 6 p.m. in a 2002 Chrysler Sebring when he rear-ended a Honda Accord near Northeast 134th Street, according to state patrol. A juvenile passenger in the Accord was injured and transported to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center. The passenger’s name was not released and her condition is unknown. Smith was also injured and taken to Legacy Salmon Creek.

Thursday, December 26, 2013A man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in Santa Rosa Friday evening after allegedly causing a five-car crash that left three people injured, police said Saturday.
Police said the collision occurred around 5:15 p.m., when a Toyota Tacoma speeding down Hoen Avenue toward Yulupa Avenue rear-ended a car stopped at a red light.
The force of the crash caused three more cars stopped at the light to collide, causing major damage to each of the cars and leaving three drivers with minor injuries, police said.
One of the drivers was taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Los Angeles, CAA chain-reaction crash that killed a woman and mangled seven cars may have been triggered by a suspected drunk driver.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Vanalden Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. Monday. Police say the driver of a silver car likely triggered the wreck, and alcohol and speed may have contributed to the accident.

Wednesday, November 27, 2013A Mechanicsburg teenager was arrested Thursday night after police in Upper Allen Township said the 16-year-old was found driving under the influence of drugs in a hit-and-run crash.
The incident occurred around 8:25 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Meadow Drive. A BMW Sedan, which was located by police several blocks away, struck a curb and caused property damage in the area of the crash. The sedan also sustained disabling damage in the incident.

Boston, MA7-year-old girl was killed and her mother was seriously injured Tuesday when an out of control sports utility vehicle hit the two on a Dorchester sidewalk, Boston police said.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Olivia Mora, of Concord, N.H., will face charges of motor vehicle homicide and driving under the influence, police said.
The incident happened on Olney Street about 2:15 p.m., as the girl and her mother were walking from the Holland Elementary School, just a block away, according to police.

Phoenix, AZAuthorities in south Phoenix say two people died in a single-car wreck early Sunday morning.
A young couple in their mid-20s died in a rollover crash near Laveen Sunday morning.
A Maricopa County Sheriff's Office spokesman said a little after 4 a.m. the driver of a white Lexus in the northbound lanes of 51st Avenue lost control and rolled the car several times. A man and a woman, both in their 20's, died at the scene.

Seattle-Tacoma, WAAdam W. Newstrom, 28, of Vancouver died in a single-vehicle crash on Sunday night in Lewis County. Newstrom was a passenger in a 1991 Honda Accord driven by Jonathon K. Reno of Vancouver. Reno was traveling south on Jackson Highway at a high rate of speed. The Accord was turning a corner, struck a guardrail and crossed the center line near Ray Road, two miles south of Toledo. Then, the Honda struck a power pole on the front right passenger door of the vehicle and came to rest in a ditch. The crash was reported just before 7 p.m.
