The driver of a van that collided with an empty CTA bus has been identified as Eric West, Jr. Three other people were hurt in the crash.

One person was killed and several others were hurt when a van slammed into the CTA bus and burst into flames near South Chicago and Commercial Avenues at about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, according to investigators.

The parents of the fatal victim said West, 25, was the driver of the van involved in the Calumet Heights crash.

A 48-year-old man has been charged in a crash that injured five people at a Roseland bus stop, following a police chase Tuesday night.

James Pugh, of the 1400 block of West 115th Street, has been charged with two felony counts of aggravated fleeing; and five various misdemeanor counts including DUI, driving on a suspended license, marijuana possession, and criminal damage to property.

Charges are pending against a man in a hit-and-run crash in the Austin neighborhood that killed Jennie Davis, 64, according to police. Davis was struck by a vehicle in the 5500-block of North Avenue on the city's West Side at 9:40 p.m. Sunday. She was pronounced dead at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. "He hit one parked car then he hit another car the lady was crossing the street in the intersection he hit her she flew up in the air and came down he sped off in his car," a witness, said.

A man was killed in a crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway Saturday morning.

The crash forced the closure of the outbound ramp for several hours while police investigated early Saturday morning.

Illinois State Police said four others were hurt. The extent of the injuries is unknown.

Deante Dillion, 22, was killed after a crash near the Dan Ryan Expressway's merge with the Chicago Skyway, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

He was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County at 4:46 a.m.

A nine-vehicle crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway on the South Side sent four people to the hospital Tuesday morning.

The nine vehicles crashed about 4:15 a.m. on northbound Dan Ryan lanes near 47th Street because of icy road conditions, Illinois State Police said.

Two people were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious-to-critical condition, a Fire Media Affairs spokesman said. Two others were taken in fair-to-serious condition to University of Chicago Medical Center, Hernandez said.

Nine people were injured Tuesday afternoon when a van sideswiped a Chicago Transit Authority bus on Chicago's Near West Side.

CTA officials said the incident happened at 1:43 p.m. in the intersection of West Madison Street and South Ashland Avenue.

The van apparently ran a red light and swiped the side of the westbound bus, according to preliminary information.

Nine passengers were transported to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injures, and three declined medical attention.

A male is dead and three others, including an infant, were hospitalized following a crash Friday night in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The incident happened about 9:45 p.m., when police observed shots being fired from a vehicle in the 2300 block of West Division Street, police said. Officers attempted to curb the vehicle, but the car took off and crashed into a pole near the intersection of Ashland and Grand avenues, police said.

A weapon was recovered from the scene, a police News Affairs Officer said.

One woman died after a pin-in crash that seriously injured four others Thursday night in the South Side West Pullman neighborhood.

Three adults and two children, whose ages and genders were not immediately known, were involved in the pin-in crash about 7:10 p.m. near the corner of 123rd and State streets, a Fire Media Affairs spokesman said.

A vehicle involved in the crash struck multiple other vehicles and damaged residential property before stopping, said a police News Affairs Officer. Police are investigating the incident, police said.

A 63-year-old man was ''seriously'' injured in a hit-and-run crash in a bank parking lot on the North Side Thursday afternoon. About 3 p.m., a 63-year-old man was struck by an dark gray "older model" Nissan Rogue that was driving in reverse in a parking lot in the 4800 block of North Western Avenue, according to a statement from Chicago police. After hitting the man, the driver reportedly drove from the scene west on Gunnison Street, the statement said. The SUV had a broken rear license plate light cover and a dent on the driver's side door, the statement said.

A 38-year-old man driving on a suspended license struck and critically injured a pedestrian with a van Tuesday night in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, police said. The man was driving a 2000 Dodge van north on Pulaski Road about 8 p.m. when the vehicle hit the pedestrian crossing the street at the intersection with Van Buren Street, police said. The pedestrian, a 34-year-old man, was not in the crosswalk at the time of the incident, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, according to police.
