The fatal crash happened about two miles south of Stillwater. Driver 62-year-old Dwight Handley Jr. of Belle Plaine, Kan. was pronounced deceased at the scene. Handley was the driver of a freightliner, and the other vehicle was a 2007 Peterbilt driven by 31-year-old Jesse Brownlee, of Wellington, Kansas. Brownlee's vehicle was parked on the shoulder of NB Interstate 35 when Handley was traveling in the NB lane of I-35. He collided with the Peterbilt and caught fire, which caused the cargo tank to explode.

One person was killed after a wrong-way multi-vehicle collision on I-35 in Moore, Oklahoma, at around 11:45 p.m., Saturday March 14. The wrong-way vehicle driven by Connor Otis, 21, of Norman, was traveling southbound in the northbound inside lane. His vehicle hit another vehicle head on. Otis' car departed the roadway, hit the concrete barrier, then hit a third vehicle.
