Tampa-St. Petersburg, FLTampa Fire Rescue officials say two people were hurt in a two-car crash on Interstate 4 Thursday night.
It happened near I-4 eastbound and North 22nd Street. Officials say one car, with a man and woman inside, was stopped on the side of the interstate with a flat tire.
Investigators say a second car crashed in to the back of the stopped car, and one of the cars caught fire.
Tampa Fire Rescue officials say one person in the stopped car was taken to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries. The second person in that car was not hurt.

San Diego, CAAuthorities said the man whose truck was hit by a train Thursday night is facing a DUI charge. The light rail Sprinter was carrying 37 passengers when it struck an empty truck near Vista. The driver of the truck said it stalled on the tracks and he apparently tried to warn the oncoming Sprinter train by waving it down. However, the train struck and heavily damaged the truck. None of the people on the train or the vehicle driver were hurt.

Chicago, ILAn Amtrak train struck a vehicle near Harlem Avenue on the border of west suburban Riverside and Berwyn on Thursday, delaying Metra BNSF line trains.
The Amtrak train was running on the BNSF tracks when it hit a vehicle near Harlem Avenue about 2:30 p.m., Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said.
Metra’s BNSF line trains between Chicago and Aurora use those same tracks, and were temporarily stopped, the rail agency said. The crash happened near the Harlem Metra station in Riverside.

Atlanta, GAPolice are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed one man and critically injured another man as they helped change a tire on a metro Atlanta freeway.
DeKalb County police say two women had called the men to help them change the tire when the men were struck by a pickup. It happened around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday on westbound Interstate 20, near Panola Road.
Police said a pickup truck they said was not maintaining its lane struck the men and kept driving. A second car followed the truck until the driver was pulled over.

Friday, February 14, 2014One person is dead following a crash in Lowell involving a pick-up truck and mini-van.
The crash happened around 10:15 p.m. Saturday on the overpass of I-96 and Alden Nash Avenue. A Michigan State Police officer said the mini-van ran out of gas and an adult went out to push it. The driver of a pick-up truck then hit the van and killed the person who was pushing the van.

New York, NYA Metro-North train on the Danbury line struck a van at the Glover Avenue railroad crossing in Norwalk Saturday evening, according to officials.
The northbound train was stopped for over an hour after it struck a white cargo van crossing the tracks at around 6:30 p.m.
Police said a witness reported he saw the van stuck on the tracks and the driver was out of the vehicle before it was struck.
Norwalk police and fire departments, along with Norwalk Hospital EMS and MTA police responded to the scene.

Chicago, ILOne person was killed early Saturday morning in a crash on LaGrange Road at 63rd Street in Hodgkins.
Police say just after 1 a.m., two people were trying to push their stalled car to a gas station when another car slammed into them.
Forty-three-year-old Eugene Logan from Chicago died, two others were injured.
The crash is still under investigation.

Los Angeles, CAThe driver in a late-night big rig crash is in serious condition after his truck overturned on the westbound 60 Freeway in the City of Industry after the driver swerved to avoid a disabled vehicle.
The crash occurred around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday night, according to CHP. Firefighter-rescue crews extricated the trapped driver from the cab after about two hours.
According to CHP, the driver of the big rig was in the far right, slow lane of the freeway when a vehicle on the right shoulder tried entering the lane in front of the big rig.

Charlotte, NCThe N.C. Highway Patrol says an Alabama couple was killed as they changed a tire on Interstate 40.
The patrol identified the victims as George and Carol Kittle, of Hollytree, Ala. Both were 66.
The patrol said the couple was almost done changing the tire when a truck sideswiped their truck and struck them Tuesday morning, throwing them 100 feet.
The accident occurred in the westbound lanes of I-40 at the Catawba County line.

Houston, TXA 37-year-old woman died Monday morning in a traffic crash on the Sam Houston Parkway in southeast Houston.
The wreck happened about 5:50 a.m. in the 6000 block of the service road of eastbound South Sam Houston Parkway near Mykawa, according to the Houston Police Department.
Police said the woman was sitting a stalled blue Toyota Camry in the eastbound lane of the roadway when a black GMC Sierra pickup, which was traveling at a high rate of speed, hit the car. The woman, who was wearing her seat belt, died at the scene. The pickup driver stopped.
