A 37-year-old woman died Monday morning in a traffic crash on the Sam Houston Parkway in southeast Houston
A 37-year-old woman died Monday morning in a traffic crash on the Sam Houston Parkway in southeast Houston. The wreck happened about 5:50 a.m. in the 6000 block of the service road of eastbound South Sam Houston Parkway near Mykawa, according to the Houston Police Department. Police said the woman was sitting a stalled blue Toyota Camry in the eastbound lane of the roadway when a black GMC Sierra pickup, which was traveling at a high rate of speed, hit the car. The woman, who was wearing her seat belt, died at the scene. The pickup driver stopped. Police said officers questioned the pickup driver. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. So far, no charges have been filed. Police are investigating the case. The crash forced officials to block three lanes on the service road while crews clear the scene.
