It was about 1:00 p.m. when a 97-year-old woman drove into the water at the Bay Shore Marina, near the end of Clinton Avenue. Police responded to the scene to find her up to her neck in water within the vehicle, which had its windows up and doors locked. After breaking the window, a police officer and good Samaritan lifted the woman from the car, and she was hospitalized with injuries described as non-life threatening.

Members of the Milwaukee Fire Department Dive Rescue Team used arms and elbows to chop their way through the ice-covered Menomonee River on Wednesday, pulling a woman from a submerged vehicle that went off the 27th St. viaduct, a fire official said. Milwaukee police say a 25-year-old woman and a 19-year-old female passenger were drag racing when the driver lost control of her vehicle, which went over a concrete barrier went off the 27th St. viaduct just north of Canal Street into the Menomonee River shortly before 6 p.m.

The Florida City Police officer, identified so far only as "Officer Castilla," is being called a hero after saving an elderly man who was trapped in a minivan sinking in a pond. Ernesto Sherwood was reunited with his family and his car was removed from the pond with the help of Miami-Dade Police.

A trooper discovered that a 2001 four-door Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck was traveling east near 568 East Crothersville Road when it suddenly crossed into the eastbound lane, hitting a tree on the north side of the road. It then flipped into the ditch. A passerby discovered the crash when he got out of his vehicle to move the tree that had been struck by the pickup truck. Sgt. Jerry Goodin with ISP said the passerby heard children yelling for help, so he walked to the edge of the roadway and saw the overturned truck.

The Florida Highway Patrol has reopened all lanes of Interstate 75 at Gibsonton Drive following a fatal accident involving a car and an ABC Liquor semi truck. A FHP Sgt. says the semi and a BMW collided on the interstate around 2:30 a.m. in low visibility conditions. The car's driver skidded off the bridge and landed in water, about 20-feet below, in the Alafia River. The vehicle was pulled from the river around 4:30 a.m. with the driver still inside. Sgt. Gaskins says the driver of the BMW died at the scene. The driver of the semi was taken to Tampa General Hospital with minor injuries.

A driver, whose vehicle veered off the road and plunged through brambles into a creek front first, had to be extricated in a tricky emergency operation. The car dove into the creek in the 6700 block of 35th Avenue Northeast, north of Keizer, about 10:30 a.m. Fire crews were called to the scene to rescue the driver, who was trapped in the vehicle. Before they could get him out of the car, they had to clear the tangle of brush from the hillside. Crews used ladders to climb down to the car. Within 10 minutes, emergency personnel got him out.

A 14-year-old boy was killed Thursday night in a crash in Seabeck, said officials with the Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue. The crash happened around 10:45 p.m. in the area of Seabeck Holly Road and Larson Lane. Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue received a call in reference to a crash at the location.  When crews arrived at the scene, they found a vehicle off the roadway and upside down in a creek. Two teens inside the vehicle got themselves out, but a third teen was trapped inside as the vehicle as it filled with water. Crews extricated the boy and started performing CPR.
