One person is dead following a crash in Lowell involving a pick-up truck and mini-van. The crash happened around 10:15 p.m. Saturday on the overpass of I-96 and Alden Nash Avenue. A Michigan State Police officer said the mini-van ran out of gas and an adult went out to push it. The driver of a pick-up truck then hit the van and killed the person who was pushing the van.

A Metro-North train on the Danbury line struck a van at the Glover Avenue railroad crossing in Norwalk Saturday evening, according to officials. The northbound train was stopped for over an hour after it struck a white cargo van crossing the tracks at around 6:30 p.m. Police said a witness reported he saw the van stuck on the tracks and the driver was out of the vehicle before it was struck. Norwalk police and fire departments, along with Norwalk Hospital EMS and MTA police responded to the scene.

One person was killed early Saturday morning in a crash on LaGrange Road at 63rd Street in Hodgkins. Police say just after 1 a.m., two people were trying to push their stalled car to a gas station when another car slammed into them. Forty-three-year-old Eugene Logan from Chicago died, two others were injured. The crash is still under investigation.

The driver in a late-night big rig crash is in serious condition after his truck overturned on the westbound 60 Freeway in the City of Industry after the driver swerved to avoid a disabled vehicle. The crash occurred around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday night, according to CHP. Firefighter-rescue crews extricated the trapped driver from the cab after about two hours. According to CHP, the driver of the big rig was in the far right, slow lane of the freeway when a vehicle on the right shoulder tried entering the lane in front of the big rig.

The N.C. Highway Patrol says an Alabama couple was killed as they changed a tire on Interstate 40. The patrol identified the victims as George and Carol Kittle, of Hollytree, Ala. Both were 66. The patrol said the couple was almost done changing the tire when a truck sideswiped their truck and struck them Tuesday morning, throwing them 100 feet. The accident occurred in the westbound lanes of I-40 at the Catawba County line.

A 37-year-old woman died Monday morning in a traffic crash on the Sam Houston Parkway in southeast Houston. The wreck happened about 5:50 a.m. in the 6000 block of the service road of eastbound South Sam Houston Parkway near Mykawa, according to the Houston Police Department. Police said the woman was sitting a stalled blue Toyota Camry in the eastbound lane of the roadway when a black GMC Sierra pickup, which was traveling at a high rate of speed, hit the car. The woman, who was wearing her seat belt, died at the scene. The pickup driver stopped.

An accident along Highway 411 Saturday night leaves one woman dead and three children and another person injured. According to the Blount County Sheriff's Office, authorities received a call around 6:44 p.m. near Ridgeway Trail on Highway 411. Deputies say Amanda Campbell, 29, of Maryville was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 411 in a 1996 GMC Jimmy when she stopped in the fast lane due to a flat tire. Campbell then left the vehicle to try and flag down someone for assistance.

The New Orleans Police Department says it's close to making an arrest in Sunday's deadly hit-and-run accident on the Interstate 10 Highrise. Police say it happened shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday. Danielle Rhone, 29, and her nephew, 2-year-old Kaedan Body, both died. According to police, the car Rhone was driving stalled near the top of the Highrise due to mechanical problems.
