A 15-year-old student at Federal Way High School was struck by a school bus while she was crossing the street at the crosswalk at South 308th Street and Pacific Highway South. None of the students on the bus were hurt. Investigators are uncertain what caused the accident. More information pending.

The 43-year-old driver of a pickup truck was in custody Sunday night for investigation of vehicular assault after the vehicle went through a guardrail, rolled off Interstate 5 in Federal Way and trapped the driver and a passenger inside, according to the Washington State Patrol. The crash happened at I-5 and South 288th Street at approx. 7:00 p.m. The driver was also being investigated for DUI. The passenger was taken to Harborview Medical Center.

One person died Wednesday when a vehicle lost control on I-5 in Federal Way about 12:20 p.m. July 31. A Honda Accord was traveling northbound on I-5 to the eastbound State Route 18 ramp. The vehicle lost control and rolled several times. Both occupants were ejected, and the vehicle caught fire. The passenger, Billy Powell Jr., 21, was declared dead. The driver, a 27-year-old female from Shelton, was transported to St. Francis Hospital with injuries.
A sticky situation on Interstate 5 clogged the freeway for hours after a semitruck dumped 20,000 gallons of a glue-like substance on I-5 north of Federal Way. responded to a crash involving a car and school bus in the 29500 block of Ninth Avenue South in Federal Way on Tuesday afternoon. A spokesperson from South King Fire & Rescue said that the crash happened at 2:50 p.m. According to the spokesperson, one student on the bus and three in the car were taken to local hospitals to be evaluated. It appears that they all have minor injuries. Another school bus was on scene to pick up students and continue the route.

Washington State Patrol detectives are asking witnesses to a fatal crash on Interstate 5 on Sunday morning to call in. Early Sunday morning, a three-vehicle collision resulted in the death of a semi driver on southbound Interstate 5 near 336th St. in Federal Way. A 21-year-old Renton man was driving a Nissan Altima southbound on I-5 at about 2 a.m. when he lost control and struck a barrier. A Toyota Camry being driven by a 24-year-old Tacoma woman hit the Altima, pushing the Altima into the other lane.
