The southbound Interstate 5 off-ramp to Oceanside Boulevard was shut down for several hours after a big rig overturned, according to Caltrans.

The incident was reported shortly before 11 a.m. and does not appear to involve any other vehicles.

The off-ramp was reopened at about 2:15 p.m.

No injuries were immediately reported.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

A collision on Interstate 5 south of Joint Base Lewis-McChord has killed one person when a pickup truck in the northbound lanes crossed the median into the southbound lanes and hit a box truck and a semi truck. The driver of the semi truck was killed. Two people in the box truck were uninjured. A person was trapped in the pickup, and it took an hour or more to extricate him.

A Sunday afternoon crash that sent a Portland family to the hospital with minor injuries led to the arrests of a two Medford residents wanted on outstanding felony warrants.

The incident began shortly after 4 p.m., when Oregon State Police officers were dispatched to a hit-and-run crash involving a silver 2001 BMW X5 sport utility vehicle that reportedly clipped a semi-trailer heading northbound along Interstate 5 near milepost 204.

A woman and her small daughter died Tuesday when their SUV smashed into the back of a grocery store delivery truck on north Interstate 5 south of the Orange County line. Many drivers who witnessed the crash or saw the wreckage right after were distraught, one woman posted on Twitter. Northbound traffic was halted for nearly an hour. Even after two lanes opened, the backup worsened and extended as far south as Oceanside Boulevard.

A pedestrian was killed early Sunday morning in Old Town when he was run over by several vehicles on Interstate 5, the Medical Examiner's Office said.

The man, between 25 and 35 years old, was in the southbound lanes of the freeway north of Old Town Avenue when he was hit about 3:15 a.m., the office said.

He was dead when authorities arrived.

The victim’s name was not released.

Weather-related accidents have snarled Interstate 5 between Salem and Eugene early Friday morning.

Oregon State Police responded to multiple crashes on I-5 between Salem and Eugene due to hazardous road conditions. The trouble begins with ice and snow, which covers the surface of roadways at depths of between 2 and 5 inches.

The California Highway Patrol said all lanes of southbound Interstate 5 near the Coronado Bridge have been reopened after a pedestrian was struck and killed on the freeway Wednesday night. The lanes were closed for about six hours and reopened at 2 a.m. The incident was reported shortly after 7:30 p.m. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the CHPl, the pedestrian was struck by at least three vehicles. One of the vehicles stopped, and its driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

A Vancouver woman was injured in a crash in Kalama on Monday night. Barbara Stonewall, 50, was driving a 2004 Honda Accord south on Interstate 5 about 9 p.m. when she lost control and struck a concrete barrier, according to Washington State Patrol. The vehicle came to rest in the left and center lanes and a white Volkswagen struck the passenger side of the Accord, then left the scene, state patrol reported. Stonewall was taken to PeaceHealth St. John’s Medical Center in Longview, where she was treated and released. State patrol is continuing its investigation into the crash.

Emergency crews were at the scene of a multi-car crash on north Interstate 5 near Via de la Valle in Del Mar involving at least four vehicles.

The crash seemed to have been caused by the slick roadways.

At 5 a.m., there was a report of a crash involving a Lincoln Continental that went down an embankment and became submerged in water.

Northbound Interstate 5 at Laguna Boulevard in Elk Grove was closed Wednesday morning due to a crash involving a pickup and two large trucks. The crashes occurred around 4 a.m. Spilled petroleum products must be cleaned up before all lanes can be re-opened on that stretch of I-5. Minor injuries were reported. In addition, at 7:30 a.m., traffic was snarled at the ramp from northbound Highway 99 to westbound Highway 50 due to a jackknifed big rig. The transition ramp re-opened at about 8.   What’s different about a truck accident?
